    FFL03 Noob question

Do I need to enter into my bound book any C&R (older than 50 years) firearms I may own prior to applying/receiving my FFL03? If so, I inherited some firearms, all rimfire, some time ago, so would I list my Dad on the acquisition side of the book or handle it differently? Also, as currently owned firearms become 50 years old, would they then be entered in the bound book?

    Thanks for your help,

Your book should only be used for firearms acquired using your 03 License

Just for clarification you don't "use" your license . You ARE licensed.

Being "licensed" requires you to enter ALL C&R firearms you "acquire" after being licensed (obtain in any way shape or form) into your book.

If you "dispose" (get rid of in any way shape or form) of any C&R firearm after you are licensed you are required to list the disposition into your book.

If you dispose of a C&R firearm which you owned before you became licensed. You are required to enter the firearm into your book using "personal collection" in the "acquisition" side of your book before disposing of it, and showing the disposition in your book.

It's also a good idea to place some sort of identifier on the C&R firearms you acquire after becoming licensed if you store them in the same safe as you store C&R firearms which were in your personal collection before you were licensed.

You might read and download the link below from the BATFE which specifically lists the duties of a C&R FFL holder, and other related information.

Better clarification. I guess I look at it differently. I don't necessarily acquire firearms using my license as an FFL. Example if I bought a gun at another dealer for collection would not go in my dealer book. There really needs to be a C&R FFL subforum here that is for this stuff. Us regular dealers don't know much about the C&R stuff.

              Thanks...

It's a whole different set of rules.

01 type FFL's are "dealers". So you guys don't "collect" you "deal".

If you don't have a 03 type FFL you don't "collect" in the legal sense, you just "own" them.

It would be a good idea to have a C&R FFL sticky or sub forum in the C&R forum...

Or a C&R FFL sub forum here....

1 I have one left.....And the tagline will be there until the thing sells. We had a grip of them though UG.....and they we left overs from 2017.....There UG I edited the signature line to accurately reflect the fact that we only have one left.

I suspect that you are not a sole proprietor, but for a sole proprietor you are required to log anything that you acquire, even if it is from another FFL and you do all the paperwork there.
