Texan Flying in With Guns

Hey all, long time lurker first time poster.. I live in Texas but will be flying to California (Ontario) in a short while to visit friends. We're all enthusiasts and plan on getting in some range time. I have a couple Sigs, a P 365 and a P 229 I'd like to fly in with (no ammo, only one checked bag). The 229 is on the Cali approved list but the new 365 is not. Not bringing in any magazines with more than 10-round capacity and as stated no ammo. Am I OK bringing in the P 365? Hard cases, no ammo, TSA locks on both, in checked bag, 10-round magazines only. I thought I'd ask here because in my experience FFL's are more up to speed on regulations than just about anyone else. I appreciate your time, thank you.

No TSA locks on firearms. Must use your lock and only you have access. Ammo can be in mags or in boxes designed to hold ammo and can be in same case just not inserted into firearms. Where did the tsa lock bs come from? You declare firearms at check in counter and sign affidavit and take to tsa for inspection. After inspection you go to gate and pick up at baggage claim at destination.

Yes, you may bring the 365 - Roster applies only to transfers from a CA FFL.

You can bring in a pistol NOT on the approved list with no problem.

Check to see if your pistol is on the banned list. If so, leave it at home.

Never heard of that kind of dislike, but we are equally salty to all people with the ability to have nice things we can't have for no damn reason.

I was in CO visiting my brother and I had heard numerous times that they hated TX drivers. We were going into a college and there were two lanes which T'ed into another road. In front of us was a TX truck in the left lane, which turns left, and was signalling a left turn and we were in the right lane to turn right. So that reminded me to ask my brother why they hate TX drivers there. Well, just as I asked that the truck suddenly turned right in front of us. My brother didn't say anything, but I got my answer.

We're every bit as accepting of folks from Baja Oklahoma as we are folks from Baja California.

The only thing that we ask is for you to speak more quickly and without that annoying "Texas Drawl." Most Californians don't have enough patience to listen to a lot of Texans speak in their native tongue.

Yes, Californians are generally in a hurry to get everywhere and have little patience. We tend to talk fast. When I go to traveling through the midwest, I have to remember to slow down.
