    Interstate interfamilial Frame Only?

My father in Indiana wants to gift me a 1911 frame. Is there any issue with the roster exemption on a frame only? Does if have to be a complete handgun?

    Thanks.

Does not have to be complete, direct family can gift you a frame only because it is a roster exempt transfer.

How are you to do a safe handling demonstration of a frame? I imagine there is a work around, but I don't know what it would be.

You don't. They are exempt from it same as receivers.

Keep in mind, that legally you can only use that handgun receiver/frame to build a dimensionally compliant bolt-action single-shot pistol or a dimensionally compliant break-top/open single-shot pistol.

Safe handling demo is not required for frame only transfers. See 11 CCR 4256(b).

If only the serialized or finished frame or receiver of a weapon is being delivered, no safe handling demonstration is required.

Interesting food for thought for sure. A good argument for shipping in a complete pistol.
