DROS after storage for prohibited person?

Just wanted another opinion on the matter..... I have only done this a couple times as far as storing guns for someone prohibited with a restraining order or something. So far until now they have all ended up being sold to another customer and I have never had a customer be able to get their gun back. I have one coming up and I assume I would need to do a 4473 and DROS since it was not a repair but just wanted to make sure from any other shops that have been through this. Thanks in advance for the help

Unless it was for gunsmith work and a few other specific exemptions, a firearm being returned needs to have a 4473 done, which requires a background check (some exemptions in free states).

Yes, you want to ensure that the person is approved by the government, just to protect yourself, if for no other reason. So a background check is a good idea.

It could be that he should be allowed, but the negative is still in the system, so being sure is good.

Yes you have to DROS it. You also need to put AB539 return in the notes.

This. No different than reclaiming a pawned gun, other than the note.

Careful to not take in any AW's under court order don't want to end up like that FFL in SLO county.

It might also be a good idea to get a copy of the court order acknowledging the vacating of the restraining order.

Do you have a link to this somewhere? Iv figures the correct way to do it is to simply dissassemble the AR in the police station before signing the release forms and take it in as a receiver

It could still be a problem if the receiver is a registered so-called a-salt weapon.

From what I read DA decided to not file charges. But still a huge PITA
