Transferring to Self, DROS only or + 4473?

I'm DROSing a rifle to myself. Can I still skip the 4473 and just note in the bound book or should I fill out a 4473 for myself. I seem to recall that I didn't need to.

Are you a sole proprietor? If so, then you don't need to fill out a 4473, otherwise you do.

You would log it out to owner's personal collection.

If you log it out to your personal collection in your bounds book, you cannot sell/transfer that firearm for 1 year.

So for the short time it takes to fill out a 4473 for yourself, it’s worth the freedom of being able to sell/transfer

Incorrect. Look at the Federal Code. The limitation is that if you sell it prior to a year, you have to run it through your bound book, which is a good idea. You are free to sell it or transfer it, just limited in how.

It is also another 4473 that if you make a mistake on that it can cause you problems. You still have the freedom.

Thanks for the info. It's a keeper so I'll bypass the 4473 and just rely on the bound book entry and DROS to handle the transfer.
