    Coolest thing today at work.

We had a customer Albert who just 13 days ago became a US citizen. He bought a handgun from us a while back as a green card resident. But I got to sell him his first ever AR15 today and his first gun purchase as a new citizen of the USA. What other good stuff happened to you guys today?

It didn’t happen today but we too had a man come into the store minutes after becoming a citizen to buy a pistol.

He was a little disappointed that we didn’t need to show his citizenship docs.

He sure was happy checking the box on the 4473 though.

I had that happen with a guy who for years was a greencard holder (before they were green or had expiration dates). He was quite happy to not have to hand me that card when I asked for his greencard.

On a similar note I had a visa holder that recently got his greencard and purchased another firearm from us when he did get his greencard.

As far as what other good stuff happened yesterday, I found out I have a DOJ rep and I know who it is now

I have one customer who still has that 'green' card with no expiration date and their A# is 8 digits instead of 9.

I don't know if the laws have changed but a few years ago I ran into an issue with this. I had a customer who had bought many firearms using his green card. The day after he got his citizenship he came in and bought a rifle. He was denied and the reason they gave me was a new us citizen had to wait 6 months before buying a firearm. I had never heard of this before but he did have to wait.

I would think that if that were still the case that stipulation would on the 4473 form. Unless, of course, that a stipulation in CA law...but I've never heard of that...

That would be an old number. All you have to do is put a zero in front of it.
