Buyer probably wants to use a credit card.
A couple of years ago, Paypal started cracking down because CC companies were concerned that people were using PP to pull out cash without paying the cash advance fees and started requiring a (no-fee) commercial PP account to accept payment from a CC.

Waze wanted to pay me for my travel expenses for a beta meeting in SFO using a CC and it was a royal PITA.

Personally? It's an FTF, you're meeting the buyer at the FFL.
Tell him to bring dead presidents or no deal.

Not only is it a potential hassle, it is also against Paypal's TOS. If he decides to hose you, all he has to do it report the transaction and your PP account is locked with any money in it... he may not even have a PP account, as you CAN send payment without one.

Are you buying or selling? Your post seems to indicate both.

I’ve accepted it before, and have also asked sellers if they’d accept it. I often keep money in my PP account to avoid the time it takes to transfer to my bank account. Although, recently PP changed the time from 2-3 days to 1 day for transfer to take place. I also use a credit union that’s 60 miles away from home, and there are not too many Credit Unions in my Work area, where I usually conduct business. Sometimes if it’s a hot deal I have to jump on, I’ll ask the seller if he’s willing to take PP. I look at it as not much of a difference if the seller were shipping it to you. YMMV

Many reasons not to accept it. It violates their rules, but he could also dispute it.

                That was my main concern

I bought a van for $4500 with PayPal.

                  It's fine.

Vehicles are not against their rules, firearms are, so it is not fine. They might not find out, but they might and then you have to deal with it.

Last year I accidently used PayPal to collect entry fees for a charity poker tournament. PayPal emailed me and said this was a violation of their gambling rules and told me to transfer all the money out of the account to an associated bank account so they could lock up the PayPal account for 180 days.

I transferred the money and set up a new PayPal account within 24 hours. They haven't bothered me since.

                        Sometimes they hold the money.
