thanks for replys everyone. too bad some is conflicting info lol. yes this exact model is currently on the list, it would have to be shipped from out of state to me. i understand he would go to a local ffl there and ship to an ffl here. ive been getting quotes of 100.00 plus dros. it would still be worth it as it would be slightly cheaper than just buying a brand new one but more than that , this one has sentimental value to me anyway. i will try the places recomended here. thanks... oh and very sorry if i posted this in wrong place. thanks again for all the help.

yeah problem is the shipping is gonna be around $80.00, then the ffl has to charge sales tax, dros, and his transfer fee, which will run around another 120.00. the gun is definitely on list so thats not an issue. it just seems criminal that i have to pay 200.00 to bring the gun in through CA red tape.Comment

What are you talking about?Originally posted by B.J.F.He doesn't need to take it to an FFL to ship it. You give him a copy of the (FFL) dealer of your choice for him to put in the box. Have the FFL call and get an authorization. Then he ships to said FFL (Overnight Shipping) my advice is to call around. Each dealer sets their own processing fee for firearms not sold through them. The dealer I worked for charged 75 but they are long gone now.
The BATF says that non-FFLs don't need a copy of a FFL and furthermore they say it is best to not give a copy of a FFL to a nonlicensee. There is no requirement that a copy of the FFL be in the box. If a private party is shipping it, there is no authorization other than to ask if the FFL will accept a firearm from a non-FFL. If a FFL is shipping it, then the FFL needs to get a CFLC. FFLs can ship USPS, which is much cheaper since it is not the expensive UPS/FedEx overnight shipping.
If you learned all this from the former FFL that you worked out, it is understandable why they are long gone.Kemasa.

The seller should check to see what a FFL will charge to ship it since shipping it USPS is much cheaper (USPS regional boxes are also an option, which sometimes is cheaper, but you have to order them from the USPS web site, but it is free for the boxes). The flat rate boxes can be around $20-$25, depending on insurance, so if the FFL does not charge too much, it can be cheaper.yeah problem is the shipping is gonna be around $80.00, then the ffl has to charge sales tax, dros, and his transfer fee, which will run around another 120.00. the gun is definitely on list so thats not an issue. it just seems criminal that i have to pay 200.00 to bring the gun in through CA red tape.
The CA BOE changed there view a while back since before sales between private parties out of state were not subject to sales tax. That does seem criminal since the law did not change.Kemasa.

This thread has me shaking my head in disbelief. Maybe those that are not a dealer should not comment on stuff like this because, like the OP said, conflicting information here.Interstate Transfers $100 (DROS included with the price)

Not snide, just stating a fact. You obviously know what you are talking about and as such, one would want only the best in helping them to obtain their firearm. The weight of that chip getting to you ???sigpic

You can lie to yourself, but don't lie to others. Your own words betray you and show exactly what you are doing and who you are. No chip on my shoulder, which is another snide comment from you, but you seem to have a huge one on your shoulder.Kemasa.
