    Intratec DC9 Legality??

So this is way above my pay grade, but is this used auto 9mm pistol legal in California and can it be DROS'd. The Company describes it as an assault pistol, and it's not all that expensive used, mostly polymer parts, but I don't need something that's questionable and boarderline in my life... Any advice??

Magazine outside the pistol grip would make it an Assault Weapon

Any pistol that takes a magazine outside of the pistol grip is an AW in California.

Before January 1st 2017 these needed a bullet button. However that is not an option anymore.

Ok, that's a given, it's an assault weapon. Now what is the legal status of owning one in California... From what I can see by the post here on Calguns there are a ton of AW rifles floating around.

CA legal as a registered assault weapon or if it is modified so that it is no longer considered an assault weapon.

If it has a "bullet button" style magazine lock and was obtained before 2017, then it is still legal to possess as such until 07-01-2018.
Starting 07-01-2018, it will be illegal to possess it unless it is registered as an assault weapon.

It is CA legal as a non-assault weapon if it's in one of the following configurations:
          A. Semi-auto pistol with a fixed 10 or less round magazine.
^Magazine is installed in such a manner that it can not be removed without disassembling the firearm's action or the magazine needs to be welded/epoxied/riveted into the firearm's magazine well.
          B. Disassembled parts.
^The firearm is disassembled into parts and never assembled while in CA.

Also, because it is not listed on the Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale, it (configured as a non-assault weapon) can not be legally transferred unless an exemption is utilized. Qualifying exemptions would be Law Enforcement Officer sale [PC 32000(b)(4)&(6)], out-of-state intra-familial gift [PC 32110(b)], and private party transfer between CA residents [PC 32110(a)].
