CAPSS and firearms

So I was just told by the local PD they wanted me to start using CAPSS system for all merchandiser bought or consigned secondhand (which makes sense) but they said they expected firearms to be on it too. Isn't this the whole point behind FDAS?

Do they need to be imputed twice? does anyone have experience with this?

Im not a pawshop, Im a auctionhouse, but we get secondhand murchandise (10%) and consignment guns (90%)

If you have a 2nd hand license and your jurisdiction is requiring you upload to CAPSS you gotta do it. No, CAPSS and FDAS are not the same. We have to upload to CAPSS here.

I found in the FAQ that because I FDAS a firearm, I dont need to CAPPS it, but any other property, im assuming antique firearms included, I will have to enter in CAPSS.

I have to figure out what thumprint scanner to get. Any recomendations?

In the CAPSS regulations, it call out that if you FDAS, you do not need to CAPSS.

What do you guys use for thumbprint scanners and signature readers? Im clueless and need to set it up for my shop.
