Buying a .22lr AR from out of state?

Is it possible to buy a .22 long rifle caliber AR that is clearly marked as a .22lr? I see them for sale here in CA but a dealer told me he couldn't ship to CA. What is the story on this, is he mistaken? Thanks, Bob

It is not center-fire, which is what a lot of the restrictions are based on. There is still the magazine limit.

I purchased a HK Mp5 22lr out of state that had a 25rd magazine. They told me they can ship it to my FFL without the 25rd magazine if my FFL is willing to accept it. My FFL was Acespawnshop in West Covina and they would accept the rifle without the 25rd magazine. Great guys at Aces and really cheap interstate transfer fee of $25

Side note: I can accept magazines with a capacity greater than 10 rounds as we have all the proper licensing for it, however if you do not fall under the exemption for us to sell them to you we will not be able to give you the mags. In the case of the .22 or pistols these may still be used to satisfy the safe handling demo portion of the transfer.

Same here. In addition if the we're able to block the mag for you (depends on model) we offer that service for $15 / mag.
