Anyone else have a problem with customers thinking it is ok to show, handle, even sell guns in their parking lot. Not the first time this has happened but pulled up yesterday to a guy with a pickup bed full of scopes and rifles showing and selling them to another person. Told them to stop it and now this jack off left a negative google feedback cause I was "abbrasive". Unfortunately my shop doesn't face the parking lot so I am limited on the signage I can put up. Even got so bad that one of the other tenants called the sheriff because someone was pointing a rifle at them from the parking lot. i guess maybe just have to put something on the front of the website and hope people see it.

Customers showing, displaying selling Guns in parking lot

There is a long running, paranoid FUD narrative that is really persistent.
The narrative is basically that gun stores don't let people look at guns or exchange money inside the store for a PPT.
Unfortunately, there are probably a few FFLs or their employees who use this kind of thing as a power trip and try to bully people into doing or not doing all sorts of oddball things.
I have had more than a couple of buyers and sellers request that I hide the money changing hands from the store people. It is pretty ridiculous.
But.....as long as, somewhere, there are FFLs and their employees who barely have two brain cells to rub together and make up stupid rules, these rumors will persisit and OC Armory will continue to have a gun show in the parking lot LOL.
If I were you OP, I would call the cops on repeat offenders.

Every PPT I've done (not a lot, but a few), have had the inspection and trading of cash happen inside the store.
I was at my local FFL and two guys show up and start talking about the transfer and they both waltz out the front door and the owner sees it and realizes what's happening and yells at them to not do it outside, but to bring it inside. They didn't hear it and he sent another guy out to the parking lot to get them. I was kinda shocked that they would even think about pulling their guns out in the parking lot!

There is a store in Santa Rosa that I got kicked out because of talking to guy about buying his guns. He came in while I was shopping trying to do consignment sales but the store said no. I asked what he had and got the boot. Never went back.Comment

Curious to know which store this is. Hopefully, it's not the one that I go to since they're awesome.sigpicComment

Yes, we've had a few dingbats do this sort of thing. As stated above there is a huge FUD circulating in the gun community that dealers don't want to see people inspect the firearm or exchange money inside the store. As OC pointed out what other legal means are there to do this? If this trend continues it will only be a matter of time before some cop/DA decides to make an example out of them and arrest and charge with a crime. STOP This sort of behavior, be smart people you live in the DPRK with over sensitive snowflakes who want toddlers suspended from school for biting a poptart into a gun shape. And liberal crazies who would love to see somebody put in jail for this.Interstate Transfers $100 (DROS included with the price)

Unfortunately, it's not just FUD. I've been personally asked twice by two different Turners to not exchange money in front of them. Because it's their store, I respected their instruction. But there definitely are gun stores that impose this silly requirement.Comment

I guess I can see the money exchange being an issue for some places. ( while I don't agree I can see places making a big deal about this) Turners in my opinion is one of the worst when it comes to FUD spreading. They do a lot of good things but sometimes they just error on the side of caution too much. The exchange of money thing is minor compared somebody waving a firearm around in the parking lot.Interstate Transfers $100 (DROS included with the price)

Which?! I've gotten pretty bitter at most of the local shops here over the years. I'm about due to spend half a day driving around looking at consignment and used racks though, since I haven't bought but three guns this calendar year. Withdrawals are kicking in.Comment

I've overheard a seller not want to exchange money with the buyer in the store (in WLA); not sure if that's FUD from the seller, or FUD from the shop. I didn't understand it at the time til just now.
As an aside.... OCArmory runs a tight ship, and had a no-issues PPT (with inspection of firearm INSIDE their shop). Also eyeballed a sweet pistol on consignment during that PPT, so was able to do a 2fer.this is a signatureComment

I know you said that you don't agree, but why would the exchange of money be an issue? I have heard FFLs claiming it is, but the reality is that everyone knows that the buyer is going to pay for it. As long as the FFL does not get involved, why would it be any type of an issue?I guess I can see the money exchange being an issue for some places. No one should be waving a firearm around outside. Too many people who would panic and then you get a 911 call about a person with a gun. No good can come of that.Kemasa.
