Where do they get class 3 from a shotgun??? Ask them if they classify other semi auto shotgun as a class 3...you'd have to sell it out of state I believe at this point 🤔....I read there is it maybe a 308 upper that will fit..

Not class III unless there was some modification to the barrel length. Potentially a high capacity magazine. It will be tough to sell to a dealer in CA as their market is limited who they can sell it to. Unfortunately in December the DOJ issued a guidelines on the new high capacity magazine laws. It specifically called out this shotgun. It has since been rescinded but no one wants to take a chance

        Under CA laws...

The UTAS XTR-12 is considered an assault weapon due to being a semi-auto shotgun that accepts detachable magazines.
It can be made CA legal with a fixed 10 or less round magazine.

        Under CA DOJ proposed regulations...

To be CA legal, the fixed magazine on the UTAS XTR-12 needs to be installed in such a manner that it can not be removed without disassembling the firearm's action or the 10 round magazine needs to be welded/epoxied/riveted into the magazine well.

To be CA legal, the UTAS UTS-15 needs a total capacity of 10 rounds.
Because it automatically feeds from both tubular magazines, it is considered one magazine feeding device. Since the combined capacity is greater than 10 rounds, it is considered a large capacity magazine and all large capacity magazine laws applies to it.
In order to not be considered a large capacity magazine and CA legal, the automatic feeding mechanism must be disabled/modified so that it must be manually switched from one tube to the other or both tubes must have the capacity permanently altered so that the total capacity is 10 or less rounds.

For people who replied, I'd recommend reading his post more thoroughly.

This is an XTR-12, which is based on a 308 AR platform, and it uses a detachable box magazine (plus a BB for CA). It doesn't have a large capacity magazine - I don't know of any available.

It isn't Class 3, but some ranges prohibit tactical shotguns. I'd call around and find one that allows them.
