    "Manufacturing"

I know we covered a "manufacturing" question previously however, I found this germane to the subject overall.

Interesting thing happened on the way to work today. Was checking emails "and found one from "Track of the Wolf". Since I have a customer who wants a barrel relined I checked their sight for barrel liners and found this:

"Not for Export. Until recently, we supplied the best barrel liners to refresh the bores of antique rifles worldwide. Homeland Security now requires a expensive license, plus a additional permit (per order). Sorry, we can no longer afford to export barrel liners. We ship to any U.S. address!"

So, it seems some parts distributors are now enforcing "manufacturing" permit requirement that some thought would not be enforced under the current administration... If that becomes industry wide it will put many "gunsmiths" out of business.

Since my shop does both retail sales as well as gunsmithing I am posting this notice here for all FFL's.

Think they are referring the the ITAR fee $2,250 and up depending on volume.

The message from the website says.

"Not for Export. Until recently, we supplied the best barrel liners to refresh the bores of antique rifles worldwide. Homeland Security now requires a expensive license, plus a additional permit (per order). Sorry, we can no longer afford to export barrel liners. We ship to any U.S. address!"

Shipping gun parts out of the US has always opened up the ITAR issue.
Are you shipping outside the US?

Or are you referring to the ITAR info that Gunsmiths=Manufaturers=ITAR needs to be paid even if you don't export stuff that's been going around for a while?

Though admittedly badly worded a clarification of the part of TOTW advises that caveat is for export only. They apparently have had others question the intent of the ad.
