I had my first DOJ field inspection last month. While off-topic, I'd like to say that the field rep was great. Very helpful.
Back on-topic; I asked them if I should be doing any AR sales or transfers with the new Patriot (or similar) mag release installed. This was a week or so after DOJ withdrew their draft AW regs. They said that (a) they thought that system would be ok, but (b) I should only transfer stripped lowers or featureless rifles for now.
I have seen ads from a Southern CA dealership selling complete "CA complaint" ARs (and other evil rifles) with Patriot buttons installed. I also see one of my wholesalers is selling CA Compliant LWRC AR15's that appear to use a proprietary system that works much the same as a Patriot button.
Last, I see on this forum that Prince50 has posted what appears to be the withdrawn DOJ AW regs as evidence the Patriot Button is DOJ compliant. I would tend to agree that IF those regs were adopted, the PB would be compliant, but without that adoption, I'm not sure.
Are any of you selling "CA complaint" rifles other than featureless? I'd like to offer them to my customers but very much want to remain on this side of the graybars. I don't want to put anyone on the spot so I'll re-phrase the question. "Should I be selling any of these CA complaint" AR15s?
