Technical question on BPCR and DROS/10day.

I'm buying a BPCR 45-70 Rifle from another member and I was wondering if I could get away with picking the gun up after doing the PPT, or would I still need to leave it with the dealer for the 10day wait?? I have an FFL3/COE. Either way is OK, I'd just get to play with it sooner... Thanks for any heads up...

If the firearm is a C&R, then since you have a C&R FFL and COE, there is no waiting period. I don't know if the CA DOJ has fixed the problem with PPTs, so the FFL might have to call and get them to mark it as delivered.

It is also possible to talk to the FFL and do the DROS as a normal, non-PPT, transfer, where the waiting period exemption works.

I don't know. If it is, then it is not actually a firearm and would not have to go through a FFL unless it uses a cartridge.

From what I gather, the rifle he is referring to is a modern reproduction or re-issue of an 1885 single shot. In this case a regular PPT and 10-day wait are in order.

C&R/COE only helps him if it is an 1899-1967 vintage rifle.

If a true pre-99 antique, it is cash and carry.

I never seem to give all the tech info and for that I apologize. The gun is an 1874 Sharps Rifle Copy, black powder cartridge rifle (BPCR), and not a C&R. It is a center fire, and the seller is local so we're doing a FTF/PPT because of the cartridge, and the caliber is readily available in smokeless. I'm just wondering if somehow it would be exempt from the 10 day due to my FFL3/COE?? The gun is a limbo firearm. Black Powder and not regulated, and a center fire which is... That's why the PPT rather than a cash'n'carry. Hope this makes sense??

If it is not a C&R gun, there is no getting around the 10-day wait unless you are LEO with a CLEO letter.

                What he said.

A C&R FFL & COE only helps when the firearm is a C&R.

Like I said in the first post I'm OK with it either way. Just asking if there might be something deep in the bowels of FFLdom.... Guess not.. Thanks for all the input..
