    FFL or private transfer

    Hi,

I'm trying to purchase a s.w m&p9 from my buddy in Virginia. I live in California and the handgun is off roster. How can I complete this transaction legally?

I've had a shop tell me it's illegal. Is this true? For any off roster gun.

Nope it's illegal to import an off roster gun unless you are exempt, or in some cases transfers from family members. SORRY
    Only slaves don't need guns

We already have the only reasonable Gun Control we need, It's called the Second Amendment and it's the government it controls.

Yes it's illegal and won't be able to get that gun in any way. Off roster guns can only be had a few ways. People move in with them, CA resident PPT, or interfamlial transfer.

If you can find one used anywhere near you, you can do a PPT with another kommiefornia resident through a local FFL.

But out of state, non familial transfers of an off roster gun is a no-no. IIRC.

        The roster sucks!!!!
        Sorry, not sorry.

Not gonna happen, unless you and your buddy get married to each other, or he moves here with the intent to establish residency and gets a CA DL or ID and meets you at a FFL for PPT.

            Asked and answered.

Interstate transfer requires the FFL, per Federal law.

            Unless
            - you are exempt (usually LEO) or
            - the transaction is exempt (usually inrafamilial, parent/child or grandparent/grandchild) or
            - the gun is exempt (usually C&R)
            the Roster applies.

There are no 'private' transfers interstate.
