    ffl released wrong firearm

FFL found original firearm traded for wrong one all done. My buddy called me from IE he drosed ppt an ar7 22 lr. rifle. He went to pick up and took a while for ffl to find. signed and took home and couple days later opened box. It was an r 7 just not the one he drosed. The owner /ffl did the pickup paperwork. No printout from cadoj just handwriiten receipt. WhAt to do now The ffl is local. FFl did not verify the serial number obviously.

Your buddy should have verified the serial at p/u.

If he gave the other rifle to someone else already, he may have to contact that person and have them bring it back. If not, probably just go back and swap.

FFL can do a DROS correction? I have had a FFL do a DROS correction for incorrect serial number of a firearm that was delivered to me, and I only noticed when I got home. Granted, it was only missing one character, but it may be possible to correct with a whole different serial number.

OK Thanks I will call and tell him. He said the ffl could not find his firearm at first then brought this on out.

If it was a stock issue and just a different SN then a simple correction to DROS can be done.

              do not feel so bad.
a decade or more back a frends house was robbed.
              got a number of guns.
lo and be hold he was contacted last year ,
one pistol recovered. ( in la)
can pick it up at the stockton pd.
he goes in to get it, pd refuses to let him see the gun,the officer carrys it out to his pu, places the package contaning a pistol into the glove box and told to have a nice day.
gets home inside unwraps it. not his old broken down six shooter. a far better 9 mm semi auto ( brand make?) but good gun.

a couple months go by. the da down la way calls him.
can you please give use that gun back.
just mail it to us via the usps.

insted he boxes it up legally and takes it back to the stockton pd.

no way was he going to commit a felony after all the screw-ups the cops did.

almost got a gun 100 times better than the one taken.

In this case was a beat up ar7 and when he opened box it was a new looking ar 7. He is going to see them tomorrow. Told him to leave firearm in vehicle till resolved and agreed to. big question where is original ar7 now. ?

So, to summarize: FFL made a mistake, he contacted the FFL, and the FFL took care of it.

I guess there's a lesson here for all of us.
