    Thank you CA DOJ

Just got a letter today from DOJ letting me know they screwed up and released mine and a whole lot of other FFL holders personal information to an unnamed third party while responding to a Public Records Act request.

My consolation prize is a free year of credit monitoring.

Thank you very much CA DOJ.

WOW...How do you release ANY information to a "unnamed" third party?

You all are entitled to know WHO they sent the information to.

I bet it was a member of the Brady Bunch or another Bloomberg financed operation.

I don't know but it happened on Oct 14, 2016, right before the elections. Someone was requesting info on CA Safety Instructors.

Government....the only job where you can screw up royally and still keep your job, office, and pension, and maybe even get a raise.

Credit monitoring is a joke...it only lets you know that something has gone wrong....rarely is it powerful enough to stop it short of being a real pain for the user.

I got the same letter. At least they said that they are requesting that the info be returned and not used. LOL. With everything else DOJ has been doing lately, I can only think that this "accident" was somehow planned in advance.

BTW, are you going to do the free credit monitoring?

They didn't do it on accident. They meant to do it. It is so easy to tell.

Someone should start gathering roll call for a action against the state.

Get a lawyer and get ahead of this. This can come back to haunt you. Think of ALL of the possible scenarios and the ATF does not care who's fault it is. Make contact with those that have gotten the same letter in this thread and pool resources. Free credit monitoring? WTF is that? So can watch **** getting ****ed up but cannot do anything about it. Get a lawyer.

ATF AND CA DOJ do not care. They are too stupid to look at the big picture and realize it was their mistake that started it.

Why would you need credit monitoring unless they released SSN or some kind of financial information?

Because they don't necessarily need the SSN in this day and age. My sister works in the financial sector and you would be surprised at what you can accomplish with a name, address, DL, and birthdate, all of which the CA DOJ requires to get "their" license to be an FFL in CA.

I got one too. No explanation, other that it was "inadvertent".

Can't sue unless there are damages incurred.

If it made the new it would look very bad for the DOJ.

BTW I'm not an FFL, but I and an out of date DOJ instructor. Also my brother is an FFL. I wonder if they messed up and sent me his letter?

And if this can be proven ( and I think is likely true ) , baby bar the door!

Let's see if the NRA-ILA can come through with some real leadership in response to this crime and get this suit started ... and funded to completion.
