    FFL recommendation, interstate + intrafamilial

I'm looking for a recommended FFL in my area that is familiar with handling a transfer that is both interstate and intrafamilial of an off-roster handgun. I live in San Luis Obispo County but would be willing to drive to nearby cities such as Fresno, Bakersfield, or Santa Barbara if necessary.

I've contacted a few FFL's near me; they either say off-roster is not really possible or they do not seem to be very familiar with this particular transfer.

My understanding is that an off-roster handgun gift from my father, who is not a California resident, is allowed. There are some requirements (10 rnd mag., 10 day wait, safety cert., etc.) and I believe my scenario meets all of them.

Thanks in advance and many thanks to the folks who post great information on this forum. This was especially informative regarding my situation:

I can do them, but we are far from you. Kemasa is a FFL in Simi Valley might be closer. PM him.

I would maybe check with Get R Gun in Santa Maria ((805) 807-4353) and/or Herb Dead On Firearms ((805) 598-0761). I've used both to buy guns from (not intrafamiliar transfer though) and when talking with the various staff at Get R Gun and Herb both seemed pretty up on the laws regarding transfers. Herb also works part time at All Pawn in Solvang(805) 691-9177 as their FFL dealer so you might be able to get a hold of him there if you can't get a hold of him on the shop phone.

You can have them contact the CA DOJ and ask them about the process. In the past, they have said exactly how to do it.
