Fastest easy way to make ar compliant

Will taking the upper off and removing the pistol grip be all we need to do? until people pick up there item out of pawn. Its an 01 license and obviously give it to them unassembled or are they screwed?

If there is no upper on it, then it is not semi-auto nor center-fire, so the laws would not apply.

+1 - I don't see why the pistol grip would also have to be removed.

Buy a DFM from Franklin Armory ($30) and install.

Requires you to open the rifles action in order to remove/replace magazine which is the definition of a "fixed magazine" in the California law.

That costs money and assumes it would arrive by 12/31/2016. I thought you also had to replace the bolt catch?

Not sure why you have to have the magazine(s) by 12/31 if you don't have to register until late 2017. What's to say you 're not buying extras?

You can also buy the catch, shave your's down (to facilitate loading/unloading full mags, or keep it original and load the same mag in place.

You could take the upper off so that you don't have what will become a so-called a-salt weapon come 2017, but you could not have a complete firearm after 2017 unless you plan to register it.

This thread I thought was in the FFL forum and had to do with a customer's firearm. It has nothing to do with registration, but what happens if the FFL still has a complete BB firearm after 12/31/2016 @ 23:59.

Maybe I misread the intent of the OP and what forum this is in.
