    Storage Fee For PPT

I was wondering, is it legal to charge a $10 storage fee along with the transfer fee (totaling $45)? I did a PPT for a rifle and was smacked with the fee at the time of transfer, I thought it would only be legal to charge after the 10th day.

Please somome let me know if I'm wrong.

Did you go over your 30 days and have to re-dros?

Fee was tacked on at the initial DROs.

Correct, the fee was charged at the time of the transaction (12/15/16).

Storage can only be charged after the 10 day waiting period. You can complain to the FFL and tell them that the fee is illegal, as well talk to the CA DOJ and see if they are willing to do anything.

Pickup was today. And I inquired about the fee not being viable until after the 10th day. Clerk releasing the rifle said it's been brought up before and insisted it was legal.

Most places give a 1 day leeway to pick up and then after that charge, like Reeds in Santa Clara, $100.

They can insist all they like, it just does not make it true. There is a newsletter from the CA DOJ which says storage can only be charged after the waiting period.

Anywhere else I should post about this? I'll definitely not be going back for any ammo or PPT transactions.

Take it up with DOJ. We need to hold FFL's accountable.

Contact the CA DOJ. While they might do nothing, if you have proof, there is a chance that they will. If so, then they will be educated and not steal from other gun owners.

this sounds just like the other thread Range Master SLO overcharging ppt for more than $35. report to DOJ, out them on yelp, social media and never any future business.

I went to a place in Burbank. The guy drove all the way from San Diego for the transfer. I asked for a PPT. The guy at the counter cast a nervous glance at the owner and told me "we're out of the forms". I mentioned it to another store I went to for the PPT afterwards. They were shocked and said the other store fed me B.S. and I should report them to DOJ. I waited about a year and tried another PPT at the same place in Burbank. They got visibly upset and passed me around, making faces and passing hand signals to each other. It was more than obvious I couldn't do any business with them. They told me the same exact thing: "out of the forms". So they've been "out of the forms" for over one year?.
