    PPT AR transfer question

    Here is the scenario.
I sold my AR to a guy on December 13. His pickup date is 12/23/16. If he is notified of a delay, that will put him past the pick up date of 12/31/16. Since the rifle is registered to me, can't he cancel the DROS after the delay notification? Then I get the rifle back and give him a refund. The LGS said that they would have to reregister to me which would go past the 12/31 date. That sounds wrong.
I'm the registered owner until the buyer picks it up. Correct??? Or is the rifle in permanent limbo since the pickup would be past the 12/31 for assault weapons.

It can be canceled and go back to you since the transfer hasn't completed yet. You'll need to get the dealer to agree to do it though. If you're patient call the DOJ from their premises and hand the phone over to them so they can confirm.

A delay notice does not mean that the firearm should be returned to the seller.

I am not sure of the process regarding cancelling it and having it returned, but both CA and Federal law has to be followed.
