    Failed DROS

    Hello,
The buyer failed DROS got a call from gun store come get your gun. (AR15 postol) I meet up with buyer and gave all his money back. Showed up with all my papers and the copy of my sellers DROS paper waited 40+ min and the delar told me they cant release the gun to me. Went back a few days later stood in line for another hour and same story they didnt know how to release the gun back to stating need to call DOJ. Took my DL went to back office and 20 min later told me waiting for a call back from DOJ. I left empty handed once more. Went back for the fifth time to get my gun back waited 20min and the guy who had helped me before said they are relay busy with sales so it going to be while and dosne't know if they heard back from DOJ.
Can someone please chime in. I need to sell the gun and its just sitting at the gun store for over month now.
    Thanks, Peter

FYI the automatic background check performed on you as the seller when the buyer failed is only good for 30 days.

Yes, what he said. They're moronic. I don't doubt they are busy but the seller background check is done before they call the dealer and say the PPT buyer was denied. They call us with the new NICS number on the seller at the same time they do the Denial. No waiting period. Sign some stuff and take your gun home. Shouldn't be that hard.

Thank you for the info. I just checked the DROS paper I have and it sates last day to pick up the gun is Dec 18th. So its been 24 days so I should be able to pick up my gun by signing a few papers. Heading out there again hopful this would be the last trip to get my gun back. For sure this would be my last trip to the store as a customer considering I bought 9 guns from them in the last 6 months and this was my first PPT with them. im not very happy they way they have been handling this PPT.

What's even more frustrating as a business is that it would have been simpler and less time consuming for employees if it had been done right the first time. Think about all the wasted hours of pay because they didn't do it right.

Here is a lesson, don't refund the money until you get the firearm back.

You could also bring in a copy of the CA PC which says that they have to immediately return the firearm to you or turn it over to the police.

never refund money before your firearm returned. They are required to immediately return your firearm. Name the ffl so we can avoid.

Got my gun back I m thankful for that. Missing 4 pmags buyer must have taken them with him and lost them. i called the buyer and claims dont have them. Well i guess no good dead goes unpunished. I dont know if it the gun shop fault
its more the employees fault. Just be careful who handles the PPT for you at the
shooting range in Santa Clrita area. As a courtesy i always buy something for the gun store who is handling the PPT. Well after 45min + of waiting and back and for the back office I was redy to get my gun they said have to charge me one penny. Since i was buying a magazine to replace the missing once the guy said he will discount the magazine by one Penney so i dont have to pay to get my gun back. Lets forget about the five trip and 24 dyas they kept my gun. Thanks O-- Tree.

Someone stole your magazines and you have to pay a penny (one cent, $0.01) for them to return your property to you? What FFL is this?

Oak tree gun club in Santa Clarita. I just thought my experience may have been a the exception. So didnt want to out the whole establishment as bad. I had my magazines stolen by the buyer who failed DROS and now wont take my calls. And to think i gave all his money back. His last remark was what a waist of his time. What an jerk. I waited for him to take him safety test than didn't have a second prof of residency. I guess I should have just walked away right then and there. The older guy at the pro shop helped him get a copy of his DWP bill and print it out. So i guess the whole thing was messed up from the start. And as for the wait time i understand it crunch time. i waited 2hrs do a PPT at turners.
