    convert pistol to rifle

Can an 01 convert a pistol to rifle?
What about a personally owned gun?
I know a rifle to pistol is a no go in CA, just wondering about the other direction.

From what I have been told, no, because it is a change in the type of firearm and so an 07FFL would be required.

I suspect that would be fine, but if the person has a FFL, it could be an issue.

Under Federal law, you can not convert a rifle into a pistol unless it was originally a pistol. A pistol can be converted to a rifle, but not the other way around. It all depends on what it was originally made into.
