    Handguns for Security School

I work for a private, for-profit, vocational school in southern Los Angeles County. The school is adding an armed security guard training course to our program. I am going to be the director of the security program.

The school will need to purchase handguns for the students to use in the training program but I am not sure how to go about this. Can handguns be purchased by and DROSed to the school? Does an individual need to be listed as a responsible person/contact person? If so, I can do that. I am not a prohibited person, but I would not want the guns DROSed in my name as the owner, because I will not be the owner.

How would the 1-in-30 rule come into play if we are planning on making an initial purchase of 4-5 handguns?

Any advise and direction would be gratefully received.

ATF advises that"..." an officer, director or other "person" authorized to act on behalf of the business must complete Section A of Form 4473 with his or her personal information; sign Section A, and attach a written statement, executed under penalty of perjury stating (1) that the firearm is being acquired for the use of and will be the property of the business entity and (2) the name and address of the business entity."

    The 1-30 would apply.
