    Parts FFL Fee

I have been looking for an 10/22 upper for a gun build and all of the places say FFL shipping on that part. Just last week I saw sites with 10/22 uppers with no FFL and the fees are stupid. The fees are specially stupid since no one posts the fees. So i buy a $100 and pay $100 FFL fee.

So my question is: What could be done about this and why is this part FFL?

This may have been asked, but really parts under a $100 with Stupid FFL fees?

    No Comprendo.

Uppers do not require an FFL.

For a 10/22 doesn't the upper get registered or is the barrel?

There is no upper on a 10/22. Just a receiver and barrel.

The receiver. Just like on any other gun ever.

Yes a completed receiver needs to go through an FFL. It is a firearm.

This is a couple, but I did come across some that weren't now. It's weird. I was having a time trying to find someone who didn't need ffl. I will say this though If I could find someone near by even an hour out I drive there instead. But all of the ones in the Bay Area don't advertise part and I hate wasting gas on a trip where it is not beneficial or productive, unless it's a vacation..

But it is not a complete receiver I am looking at. That would include the upper and lower. But I just want the upper. The lower is the trigger group. That is what should be registered. Right?

If it's got a serial number on it, it must (to be legal) go through an FFL.

I don't know how much clearer I can be.

There is no upper and lower on a 10/22. There is just a receiver. This is a completed 10/22 receiver which needs an FFL.

So that is what needs the reg? Really? That is crazy.... that is an expense peice for an FFL... I'd rather give the money to someone local if they have it.

Anyone know of guns stores with low price 10/22 receivers in NorCal by Solano/Sacramento?
