UGH! You know what really grinds my gears? When you spend almost an hour talking with a customer about their firearm, you research it, you check serial numbers for year built, you spend time online to determine a value and by the time you are done you've told them more about their gun than they ever knew. You offer a price on it and they leave only to say that they don't believe you because some dude at Turner's told them different. ARRRRGH! Why did you waste my time then?????!!!!!! I even asked did the dude at turners take the time like I did to research your actual firearm? No, well then how would they know???????? I'm so frustrated you just don't know. I'm already busy enough here and when I take that sort of time when I know I'm right about what I told them it makes me so mad. Its like Turners and Bass Pro are the de facto experts of the uninformed. Its like people wont believe you because "turners" says differently. Rant over, chime in if you feel like commiserating with me about this matter.

LOL, I know right, honestly there are a lot of good guys and gals at turners, its just the one dingaling who ruins it for all of us! Turners SB had a girl working who knew her S!#T when I was in there, she knew more about this AR-15 than the guy who was buying it could process. But, alas, she's a rare find.

Same on here. Sometimes I ramp up with a detailed answer to something, than I think "this guy doesn't even care that much." You almost have to put out feelers and or let them do some homework to see if they're serious before commiting to see it through.

It's called "qualifying the customer". Any good salesman has to determine if the customer is likely to buy or is just kicking tires. If it takes you an hour to come up with a preliminary price, you're doing it wrong.

And then customers wonder why FFLs end up not wanting to spend the time to deal with special requests. It is amazing that some people just don't consider the time involved and have no thought of compensating for additional time needed to deal with special issues.

Of course, if you say that it will cost $X/hour, then also would get upset.

Here's what people don't see. That hour put me leaving here an hour later than usual because I had to log in guns from the ups shipment. I didn't finish logging and I had to do it this am when I came in. I would have just been here all night......
