    Colt National Match

Since Colt National Match "all serial numbers" is c&r and I'm assuming exempt from the roster does that include Gold Cup National Match Series 70?

My understanding is that it has to be fifty years old or on ATF's C&R list to be roster exempt. I would think that would not include any 70 series Colts unless they are on the list by name.

They are exempt. Anything colt national match is listed by name in the federal C&R list. As long as it is in the original caliber

The Colt National Match and the Colt Gold Cup National Match (various series) and the Colt Gold Cup Trophy are all different models. The C&R list refers applies only to the Colt National Match first listed in Colt's catalog starting 1933 and ceasing production at the start of WWII. It does not apply to the 1957-1970 reincarnation as the Gold Cup National Match, nor the 1970-1983 70 Series GCNM, nor the 1983-1996 80 Series GCNM, nor the 1997-present Gold Cup Trophy, nor the current reissue 70 Series GCNM. However, some pre-70's series GCNM are now older than 50 years and may qualify as C&R and there are some 70 and 80 Series commemorative GCNM editions that are in the C&R list.

I would disagree. It does not reference anywhere in the C&R list the specific manufacture date or series. It merely says Colt National Match in original caliber.

I think any Colt authority considers the National Match and the Gold Cup different model guns; nearly everyone refers to the Gold Cup National Match as simply the Gold Cup and not as the National Match to emphasize the difference. The National Match was manufactured in limited numbers for a limited time, making it reasonable to be considered C&R, whereas the Gold Cup has been manufactured continuously for a much longer time (almost 6 decades) in much greater numbers. In similar condition, a National Match is worth 3-4 times more than a pre-70's Series Gold Cup and 4-5 more that a 70's Series Gold Cup. There are also several internal and external modifications as well as roll mark differences (Colt National Match vs Colt Gold Cup National Match vs Colt MKIV Gold Cup National Match) that would cause one to consider these different models. In addition, they were listed under in the Colt catalog under different names and model numbers. Finally, if the Gold Cup is considered C&R by the AFT as a National Match, why would they relist the NRA Centennial edition of the Gold Cup separately?
