PD Transfer to owner

Have a request from a customer that needs to have some firearms that were confiscated my PD transferred to his grandson. Just looking for info on what I need from PD to log into my A&D book. And would I just transfer back as a PPT? I'm a 01FFL

Log it in as "Whatever Police department" Address, Possibly a case number. Cant be a PPT. May be exempt sale if they are pistols. I would double check with ATF and CAL DOJ and make sure multiple sales of pistols/ rifles applies too/.

You might be able to do it as a PPT with a POA (form on the CA DOJ website) since the firearms are owned by the person, but then again you did not get it from them. You could check with the CA DOJ, but who knows what answer you will get, but it is a start. A firearm attorney might also know.

In general, the police are good about telling you what they need, typically confirming that you are a FFL. The person needs to sign a release, but that is nothing you need to deal with.

I've done this receiving from local PD, county Sheriff’s, DOJ, and once ATF.

All were done the same.

Log in with the agency name and case number.
DROS as exempt
Because I couldn't get a straight answer on the multiple sale question, I send it in.
Save the copy of the property recept from the PD.

I have to say Both ATF and DOJ have always been easy to deal with and deliver the firearms to me. Local PD's can be hit or miss and rarely deliver.
