Tried to transfer a Norinco paratrooper sks today....

Was at a local FFL today transferring a Norinco paratrooper sks today, and was denied because during the DROS the computer spit it back as an assault weapon. Funny thing is I transferred another Norinco paratrooper sks during the beginning of the year at the same FFL and it went through. Anybody have any input on who could be contacted regarding this. Norinco AK patterns are on the ban list per the flow chart, but a regular fixed 10rd sks??? Makes no sense.

Type has to be entered as "fixed sks", or it gets confused.

I had a Norinco paratrooper DROS'ed about a year ago. No problems. Can dig out a copy of the DROS if you need.

Yeah your FFL screwed up.....these have to be put in the computer just right or else the stupid, ambiguos "named assault weapon" crap will spit it back out.

I think when I did my paratrooper, my FFL had to put "made in China" as the make, or something like that.

I figured it had to do with how it was entered into a field in the computer. They sure don't make it easy. Thank you!

I had a local FFL enter a AK reweld as a Yugo M70 and it was denied as the M70 pistol apparently is on the No No list. Took an extra week plus to iron it out with them. I had even talked to them face to face before I had it shipped and it still got messed up. Knowledge is the key like others mentioned. Scary how some FFL's are clueless about firearms.

With SKs type firearms I always put the actual number like 59/66 or something.

I have found that it only rejects if you use "SKS". You can use things like "Siminov SKS" or other variants and it seems to work just fine.

I had a FFL play such games as part of an attempt to deny a PPT on a standard Chinese SKS plus I also found out they charge over $35 for a PPT. It was a FFL that sells OLL type weapons too not like a Big 5.

same thing happens if you try to DROS an Izhmash Saiga. Just have to finagle the model name properly as above responses indicate.
