2 rifles shipped to me without any paperwork at all

    So what do I do.?

I wasn't expecting these rifles, no one has contacted me about sending me these rifles, yet these rifles came, no paperwork at all.

No ffl no ID, nothing came with them.

I can't even put them in my bounds book since I don't know where they came from.

I called a few suspecting FFls and they have no record of any delivery to me.

Return address is a PO box in Arkansas with the first name abbreviated and the full last name.

    What do I do?

Iv decided that these firearms will have a receiving fee and safe storage fee attached to them which I will only discount if I find the rightful person but not if I have to turn them over, but I don't know what to do, I figure I have a few days before contacting the ATF to get it straightened out

Send a physical letter to the PO Box with inquiry and explanation.

Not sure which carrier was used, but there may be a shipping account number that the courier could held you identify the shipper.

Other than that, you've done your part and will just need to give the buyer X amount of time to contact you.

How long do you have to wait before it becomes abandoned property? 90 days with proper procedure?

I have no idea, Atf requires that I Input the firearms into my books within 7 days of receiving them, which is impossible to do without the senders information. If I don't hear anything within the next few days, I'm gonna send a letter explaining what I have and a bill that comes with it if they want me to ship it to their ffl. If nothing, I'm pretty sure I have to turn it In

Yeah...the code says you have to log in the gun. Log the shipper with the best info you have (abbreviated name and po box.) When buyer shows up have him get the full details from the seller and make the correction.

Its not his fault the shipper is an idiot.

Haha ok, the sender actually contacted me after emailing the people that match his name and city location on Facebook and I found out everything I need to know.

Thanks everyone for teaching me how to deal with it if that didn't happen, now I know it's no panic

You can always log it in since you use what information you have. It is not 100% perfect or nothing.

I don't play with these. No paperwork gets an immediate "return to sender." My employees don't have the time to mess with these.

I started that policy about 3-4 years ago and it has saved me a ton of headaches. I still have a pile of guns here from 4-5 years ago that no one has claimed.

Haha - If I gave you 100 tries you wouldn't be able to guess what any of them are.

Let's do this the easy way. I'll come down to the shop later today and I'll go ahead and relieve you of whatever rifle has been there (unclaimed) the longest.

Sell them and if the person ever shows up, let them sue you. Gun? What gun?

Considering the time period, let them prove that you did not have a storage/abandon firearm policy at that point in time.
