    COE renewal delays

Is anyone else seeing delays in the renewal of their COE? I sent my renewal in right after I received it and unlike in other years, it has not come back yet. I mailed it on 15-Jun, they claim to have received it on 22-Jun, the check was cashed on 01-Jul, but it is still in process.

I have to wonder if they are delaying things to cause problems. It has never taken this long before and normally I get it before the expiration date.

A friend of mine told me that it's taken at least a month+ and he hasn't got his renewal processed yet, as opposed to last year when they sent it in a week or two. I'm due for a renewal in November, I'm hoping there's no problems...

That is what has happened to me. Based on what they told me that it takes 8-10 weeks, you might want to put in your renewal early. Not sure of how easy that is without the form though.

I am not sure of why it would suddenly start taking a lot longer, but since you said that a friend is having the same issue, it does not seem like it is just me.

If you have any questions, please contact the Bureau of Firearms at (916) 227-3751.
I just called them yesterday, and the message states they are very busy.

They received my renewal 06-01-16 and I just received it in the mail on Monday, the actual COE was dated 6-29-16

I always send mine back right away via Priority Mail so I have tracking info. That has come in handy more than once with CaDoJ!! Sent ours in for renewal a month ago, tracking shows received, check has been cashed but no COEs yet.
