I was searching the forum but couldn't find the info, so I would like to ask how long it takes, in average, for firearm to be "checked in" at FFL after it was delivered?

What would be a reasonable time to properly document the firearm?
3-4 days, a week, or does it take longer than that? With that I mean the time from delivery to being able to start the DROS.

I am not sure what is involved with the dealer's "checking in" process, but I do know that the last time that I went through Gallery Of Guns, I started my DROS on the same day that the firearm was delivered to the FFL.

I received the shipping tracking number via email from Davidson's/Gallery Of Guns, once I saw that it had been delivered in the AM I called the FFL, and I dropped by to start the DROS on my way home from work.

As usual, your mileage may vary though...

I received tracking number as well. Firearm was delivered last Wednesday at noon. Called the FFL today for the second time. Told me they'll call when somebody can "fish" the firearm out of the storage.

As usual, your mileage may vary though...

Hmmmm, sketchy, or seriously overbooked, ffl.

Wow, my FFL calls when stuff shows up, I go down there at lunch or on my way home, open the box, then do the paperwork.
You are getting jerked around. They're either super busy or super lazy

It all depends on the receiving FFL. Usually only certain employees can do the check-in. I have had to wait over a weekend to do it at one of my favorite FFLs because the managers don't work weekends and my gun showed up on a Saturday. Another FFL I use does it as soon as the UPS/Fedex man walks in to door with the box. But usually it is done within 24 hours where ever I have gone.

I'd start getting ticked after a week or so. You could also complain to Gallery of Guns and let them know that this FFL is not processing their transactions in a timely manner.

The FFL has limited time to log it in, either by the end of the next business day or a week (if the invoice has ALL of the required information on it).

It seems that typically a delay of over 1 day is an issue with the FFL, assuming that they are open.

We usually don't the customer same day it arrives. I would rather not store firearms any longer than I have to.

Finally I got the call to come and do the DROS.
After some googling for this FFL, it looks like a pattern rather than one time thing.
For the future purchases I'll probably go with another FFL.
