How to work on rifles come 2017?

Since basically any semi auto gun with a detachable magazine will be an AW that severely limits the number of dealers that can work on rifles.

How are we supposed to work on customers rifles that are RAWs?

    Crap.

Hope everyone uses on of the new work around thus making them not RAW?

I don't want to get my dangerous weapon thing again. And where the hell am I going to securely store all this mail order ammo?

I was denied the AW permit. They won't even issue me one.

Have them bring it dis-assembled? Would it still be considered an AW at that point if they only brought you the section you had to work on?

For the upper that might work.

Not for the lower/receiver it is registered a AW by SN#

Yeah this is going to suck. Especially for our Cerakote business. Don't feel bad we were denied our AW permit as well. Just didn't have the money to sue them over it

                Not a FFL.

So if I have a jam/double that I cannot clear myself because I cannot drop the mag if "fixed", (Franklin Armory DMF mag or other type of do-dad), that means I cannot take it to a smith unless AW approved?

You can take it to a smith you just can not "leave it" with them you must stay with the AW

We work on a lot of LE rifles and that is how we have to do it now. They make an appointment and we work on them with them in our weighting room

Thank you for the response. The thought of driving around with a loaded "jammed" rifle just does not give me a fuzzy warm feeling.

                    Thanks again.

                      Meh!
The unintended consequences of the march towards disarmament mean nothing.

They will either get fixed later, or lauded as a bonus feature.

Take it to the capitol building directly to the politicians who wrote these bills and ask them to fix it. After all, they must be experts in firearms to pass legislation requiring this type of configuration to your private personal property. They are passing laws under the guise of "public safety".

You are part of the public. They are public servants.
