    Private Transfer Fees

If someone showed up at your shop with 7 rifles/shotguns and 2 handguns for a personal transfer, what would you charge for the transfer with DROS fees?

assuming you were talking about a CA-defined PPT, the law allows for you to charge $25 DROS +$90 dealer fee ($10 for each firearm). you can charge less if you wish, but not more.

wasn't there a limit on the number of handguns per DROS form?

yes, each handgun (and each rifle/shotgun) is DROSed on its own form.

but there is no limit to the number of handgun PPT DROSes that can be submitted at the same time. for multiple DROSes submitted in one session, CADOJ only charges the FFL a single $25 DROS fee for all the DROSes.

also to clarify, this was assuming they were all going to the same person vs 9 separate people. I couldn't tell if the person that showed up was the buyer or seller.

Each hand gun, and now each long gun, has to be done on its own DROS, but the fee changed to $25 for any number of firearms transferred at the same time. The DROS aspects are not really relevant except when it comes to cost and labor for the FFL.

CA PPTs are exempt from the 1 in 30.
