1-30 denial

Maybe I'm missing something, but when did Feds loose their 1-30 exemption status? Just had one denied.

I had a regular customer who is Customs Officer (LEO) get denied on a 1/30 for a pistol. I thought Feds were exempt.

He's only exempt from 1/30 if he has a letter that lists the gun info, including serial number and says he is going to use it in the course of duty

Did you check the 30 day exemption box when doing the dros?


DOJ doesn't know whose exempt and who isn't when submitting the dros unless you check that box telling them they are exempt.

For that to happen the customer has to tell them they are exempt and have bought a pistol within 30 days. It's easy to miss on conversation

What happened was the sale was put under something other than LE on the dros. The dros screen has a section specifically for LE handgun purchases.

You only use that screen if it's for a department use with letter... If it's just LEO purchasing for his private use, you use the exempt handgun link .. At least so Iv been told by other FFLs on this board

Used that screen for 6 years with multiple audits and never had a issue.

HUH??? That is only for a 10 day wait exemptions. LEO's are exempt from 1 in 30 requirements. The DROS needs to reflect the exemption properly to be accepted

High Cap Exempt
30 day exempt
10 day wait exempt (even with letter)

10 day and 30 day are only for full time paid Peace Officers under CA law.

The only perk they get here is off roster and FSC exemption.
