    Out of state transfer question

    I'm looking at doing an out of state transfer with an on roster hand gun, and I was calling around local ffl's to see who had the best "rate", and one mentioned that the seller can ship it straight to them but needs to include an "authorization" letter and provide a CFLC I've never heard of that before and am really not sure what it is.

    Can someone with more knowledge than my self help me out here?

          Quick Link - GO TO CFLC What is the California Firearms Licensee Check System (CFLC)? California Penal Code Section 27555 prohibits all Federal Firearms Licensees (FFLs), other than Type 03 or 06 FFLs, from shipping firearms to a FFL in California unless, prior to delivery, the FFL intending to deliver, sell or transfer the firearms obtains a verification approval number from the California Department of Justice Bureau of Firearms. This includes transfers that occur at gun shows. The CFLC system validates a California FFL’s active status against the California Centralized List.


          It's for licensed dealers sending to other licensed dealers. A private individual seller is exempt.

          Of course, the CA FFL must have business practices that accept shipment from non-FFLs.

              Thank you. Not sure why the store then told me that the seller can ship it him self and not through an FFL but had to do that as well

                  It might be that there was some confusion in what was said or what was being said.

                  Where are you located? There might be a FFL close by who can help you.

                      LA county. I called Martin Retting and they said "If we're in a good mood we only charge $100, if we're in a bad mood its $135", I'm guessing they're usually always in a bad mood

                                  Man I have to raise my out of state transfer prices. I only charge $35 plus dros and only have 7.5% tax rate
