    multiple handgun dros

I was at a small gun store and stumbled on a pair of saa colt 22lr frontier scouts. they were on consignment so the 1 in 30 doesn't apply. It is my understanding that there is a dros on each handgun, but the store only has to pay the 25$ fee once, so usually charges 10 for each additional handgun.

If the store is charging me 2, 35$ fees, am i correct in assuming that they are most likely trying to make a buck off of me?

    S/B 25 + 10 + 10 = 45 when DROSed at same time

per law, they can start one DROS and without closing the session, initiate the second DROS. as such, CADOJ only charges the dealer a single $25 fee and the dealer is allowed to charge you $25 + 10 +10= $45 for the two guns.

now, if they do the first DROS and close out the session and then start up a second DROS in a new session, CADOJ is going to charge them two $25 fees so it can end up as $25 + 10 + 25 + 10= $70

in both cases above, the FFL made $20. now, if the dealer did the former, but rang it up as the latter, then the dealer was illegally making an extra $25 off of you, but without knowing exactly how the DROSes were submitted, its hard to tell.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

Thanks for the replies. The guns were purchased at the same time (matching set). I think either way I wouldn't want to go back to the store - either they cost me an extra 25 or they illegally kept it.

They might not know, as amazing as that might seem, that there is only one DROS fee for any number of firearms transferred at the same time. They also might not know how to correctly submit the additional DROS.

You might ask them about it so that either they learn or that you learn that they are ripping people off.
