Well, I think I've seen it all now.

Like most shops I get my fair share of loaded guns walking in. I also get my fair share of uniformed customers about state and federal gun laws. I got the leader of them all today!

A gentleman came in this afternoon with a Davis 380 (kind of gives you hint where this is going ). He said he fired it and the shell didn't come out, the slide wouldn't go back and it won't fire anymore rounds. After multiple times asking him to hand over the gun as he was pulling it out of a box, I wound up having to reach across the counter and snatched it ( he at that point had the gun in his hand and was sweeping half of my customers ). I drop the mag and yeah..loaded. pull the slide, it's stiff but moves to show a fired round in the chamber. Annoying, but we all have seen it.

Here's where my jaw hit the floor. I looked at the normal blue cardboard box these were sold in and notice a lot of tape and labels on it. Looking closer I realized what I was seeing. He had dumped the loaded gun into the original gun box, taped it shut, took it to the post office and mailed it to Davis! Somehow this box got all the way to the old address where someone had just written return to sender and it made it all the way back to him. He was mad that the company never even opened the box.

This one I will remember for a very long time.

My feeling exactly. I have no idea how it made it through the local post office, whatever hub it hit, out to another post office, and then a whole return trip without someone noticing it was a gun.

The dang box said it was a gun. I thought mail was screened now.

Lol The devils gun can go anywhere.... Crazy story OP and good job on not beating up the customer but pointing out the absolute insane route that box had to go through, how many hands touched it and still it made it there and back lol

I unloaded the gun, got the stuck round out. I tried to explain that there was a problem with shipping a loaded forearm through the post office. He didn't care. I then tried to explain that driving around with it loaded could be a problem, he didn't care.

When he insisted that he be allowed to shoot it in the parking lot to "test fire" it, I was forced to asked him to leave.

Had a judge ship a Glock for transfer to his son.
Shipped through post office....with a loaded mag....and one in the chamber.
His son was shocked.....His father was a judge...but them I realized he was from Florida. .....I understood.

Are these people on the pipe? I've seen nearly as bad but different situations. I'm glad I'm not in the indoor range business anymore.
