I'm pretty sure that I'm reading this wrong but can someone explain to me where? I was under the impression PPT's on multiple handguns was basically $35 for the first and $10 for each additional. I'm reading here that it is $35 for the first one and $31 for each additional when doing multiple handguns. What am I not reading correctly?

First, not an FFL.

But isn't the key word in your post "handgun"? I thought (possibly incorrectly) that you can only DROS (PPT) 1 handgun on one form, but multiple rifles can be DROS'd on one form.

(a) For a sale, loan, or transfer conducted pursuant to this chapter, the purchaser or transferee or person being loaned the firearm may be required by the dealer to pay a fee not to exceed ten dollars ($10) per firearm.
(b) No other fee may be charged by the dealer for a sale, loan, or transfer of a firearm conducted pursuant to this chapter, except for the applicable fees that may be charged pursuant to Sections 23690 and 28300 and Article 3 (commencing with Section 28200) of Chapter 6 and forwarded to the Department of Justice, and the fees set forth in Section 31650.
(c) The dealer may not charge any additional fees.
(d) Nothing in these provisions shall prevent a dealer from charging a smaller fee.

I think it has more to do with the fact DOJ for some reason has lost the ability to update the different FAQS.

The quote Elete references is based off the old DROS system that didn't allow us to run multiple handgun DROS with only one charge. Now of course we can run multiple DROS for a single person with no additional fees.

DOJ FAQS have become a no man's land of misinformation.

The DROS is now $25 for any number of firearms transferred at the same time. For a PPT, it is up to $10 per firearm plus the DROS.

Is that for both rifle and handgun combined transactions? I thought we were suppose to do two separate dros transactions when doing long gun and hand gun according to the DOJ rep.

Each firearm gets it's own DROS, but there is only one $25 fee if all are done at the same time.

you can do both.

you can do PPTs from multiple sellers,
PPTs of handgun and long guns,
dealer sales/transfers of handgun and long guns, all in one transaction.

as long as you don't close the session, you can add on additional DROSes and it will keep going.

For multiple-seller PPTs, the buyer's info stays the same but you can add in each seller's info on that individual DROS submission.

The only issue I've ever had is when the PPT customer was doing a few long guns and a couple pistols. He had a hunting license as an FSC exemption, and the HSC for the pistols. I started his DROS with the rifles and was unable to do the pistols without closing out his transaction and starting a new transaction for the pistols because he had the HSC number. I called DES and got a credit for the extra $25, but still was a pain and not sure if it will continue to work where they credit us. Just a heads up.
