    Hunter safety course required?

I drossed a handgun yesterday and my FFL warned me that the DoJ might require me to complete the hunters safety course before releasing the firearm since I was a Canadian citizen. He stated that the last two non-citizens that he processed got that notice.
It doesn't make much sense to me and he had no clue as to what the DOJs reasoning was behind it.
Has anyone heard of anything like this? I remember hearing about a hunting requirement if you're on a non-immigrant visa but I'm a perminent resident so that wouldn't apply.

Nope, I have heard nothing about this. A good 25% of my sales are to perminent residents and I have never had one report ever getting a letter of any kind.
You, you, and you: Panic. The rest of you, come with me.
Incoming fire has the right of way.

Same here... I have 'em from all over too. Germany, Canada, and China mostly. A few from Mexico.

The Canadian customer I have has transferred in excess of 30-40 firearms over the past 4 years and has never had a problem or request that he go to hunter safety. In fact, hunter safety alone isn't what is required for Non-Immigrant Aliens, the hunting license itself is what is needed.

The hunting liscense requirement is only if your here on a visa, and if that's the case the dock will call your FFL and ask to verify the hunting liscense number, so you would first have to go to a hunter safety class and then purchase a hunting liscense, the idea behind that law is that people who are not citizens or permanent residents can purchase a firearm for hunting purposes only
