A customer came in with a Savage Model 77B 20 gauge with no serial number wanting to sell it. From my research they didn't have one during that time period. Can I buy this from the customer, and if so, what is the proper way to complete the DOJ and 4473 paperwork. Thanks

Actually, it is. For the CA DROS, they don't accept NSN, instead, depending on which DROS entry you are using (yes, it is different and it might even change) it is 2antique or antique2. You can call and ask them what it is if that does not work. I found that a PPT did not accept what a dealer sale did.
The 4473 instructions lists other terms you can use as well, but only for the Feds.Kemasa.

Yes, for long guns it has. Some older handguns don't have a serial number either, but that is a lot rarer.Kemasa.
