    Question

Is there a limit to the time a FFL, after receiving a gun from out of state, has to notify the buyer in order to do the transfer?

No. You need to talk to the FFL, in advance, to see what their policy is. Sending email is easy, but the FFL does not always get the buyer's email address. Leaving phone messages can be a problem since it can be a shared number and some people hide their purchases from their spouse due to money issues.

You can see if the shipper will send you a tracking number, but realize that a FFL does not immediately deal with all packages that arrive.

At times we get so many out dealer transfers it's very hard to contact buyers when it arrives. A large amount come with a name but no contact info, or just no info at all.

I tell my customers to get a tracking number and track it themselves.

We tell our customers. To track their shipments, but wait for us to call first. If you haven't heard from us in 24 hours. It's because 1. Your voicemail is full, 2. We didn't have your contact info.
