CHINESE SKS DEEMED ASSAULT WEAPON

Hi All,

My most recent out of state SKS buy, went to an 01 FFL, as mine always do. The 10 day jail expired today, and when I call to confirm the time for pick up, the LGSS told me the DOJ just notified them it was an illegal assault weapon, and they were working on it.

At the time they told me about the DOJs response, I informed them to make sure that the DOJ knows that it wasn't a "Norinco Type 56 (AK47)", it was an Chinese SKS T56 here via Albania, which is now the country of origin.
This is the 3rd Chinese I've had sent to this FFL in 6 months. It's a relatively new shop, and I believe my SKSs have been the only ones they've DROSed.

Any suggestions I could pass on to them would be appreciated. PAX

I remember something about sks have to be "fixed sks" or something along this line. I haven't had to dros one in a long time.

Your FFL probably put it in the computer wrong. There is a certain way you have to type it in otherwise the system thinks it is an AK pattern rifle on the named AW list.

Has to have the words "with fixed magazine" added in the Model field. SKS only triggers AW response

If they put SKS in the model it would not even allow them to enter the DROS.

As said above in the model have them out Fixed Magazine SKS
