I have one dealer in Woodland that will do a PPT for $35 bucks. Is there a shop in the local North Sacramento area that will do a PPT for that??

Every shop should be charging the same. Call ahead to make sure you have everything they require before you make the drive. You, you, and you: Panic. The rest of you, come with me.

Yeah, thanks. I did find the statute in one of the sticky's at the head of this forum. I found a dealer that is not only charging 25+25=50 for the PPT, but is also trying to collect a $1/day for the waiting period. Since I don't do that many PPTs. I wondered?? Thanks again for the feedback....WITHOUT THE 2nd THERE WON'T BE A 1st...]Comment

I guess I should have said, they are all required by statute to charge no more than $35 total for a PPT. Don't use the FFL that is charging more -- that FFL is breaking the law if it is for a PPT.Yeah, thanks. I did find the statute in one of the sticky's at the head of this forum. Now, if the gun is being shipped to the FFL, and the transaction with the buyer is not face to face, the FFL can charge whatever transfer fee the want. PPTs are only face-to-face transactions.Comment

Okay, it's not a PPT, then. A PPT (Private Party Transfer) only occurs when you and the other party are both present at the FFL. So, if you called a gun shop and asked "what do you charge for a PPT," then you're asking them the wrong question.
What you need to find out is what they charge to transfer a firearm that is shipped to them. Those fees vary dramatically from FFL to FFL. They usually post those fees on their website, if they have one. When you get a quote, make sure you find out what they charge to transfer the firearm including DROS, so you're comparing apples to apples.Comment

If it is a CA PPT, then the FFL is violating the law in multiple ways. The FFL fee can not exceed $10 and the FFL can not charge for storage during the waiting period, but can charge after 10 days.Yeah, thanks. I am aware that the OP is not a PPT, but it is unclear as to whether the FFL was talking about a CA PPT, so I posted for others reading this.Kemasa.
