    C&R questions

What happens when you run into an old reproduction rolling block with no serial number. Not filed off, just never had one. Would it fall under an FFL3 purchase??

-and- Would a Winchester model 70 with a 1940 manufactured serial number qualify as a C&R even though the model is still being manufactured???

Thanks in advance for any info...

if the gun is over 50-years old, but made after 1898, then it is C&R with or without a serial number.

Colt 1911s are still made today and are not C&R, but those made before 1966 are C&R.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

      Thanks for the 1911 example.

How would one go about determining the age of a gun that doesn't have a serial number??

you would need to find other ways to date the item. such as if model XYZ was only made from 1945-1965, then you could be fairly certain that it was C&R.

or, if the model was made from 1960-1980, but it didn't have a serial number, you could be fairly certain that it was made before Oct 1968. but Oct 68 is still 2.5 years away from being 50-years old so you need to see if there are any documented minore changes that can be looked at to determine age. such as a stock shape change, or a front sight update, etc.

That's what I kinda figured. Thanks again for the feedback.
