OC FFL for intrafamial interstate transfer CA to CO

I want to gift my son, who lives in CO, a Glock 19. Is there an FFL in, or near Orange county that can handle this for me? My son has a FFL waiting on his side.

I've been told I can do this myself, but years of living in CA has made me very cautious.

Please PM me, if you can assist.

    Thanks!

You need to check with your son's FFL to see if they are willing to accept a firearm from a non-FFL. It is legal for you to ship it to the FFL directly, but you are limited to using FedEx/UPS and overnight shipping, which is expensive. If you find a FFL who's fee to ship is low, then it might be cheaper to ship it through a FFL since a FFL can ship it USPS. The regional boxes are sometimes cheaper than the Flat rate priority.

      Thanks for the quick response.

They are fine with it, but I'm frightened to ship a firearm across state lines. (Especially living in CA) They want a copy of my CA drivers license and I'm not sure what paperwork is necessary beyond the letter stating my intent to gift it to my son needs to be included. I don't know if it needs to be locked in a container, if so whos' lock and how do I get the key to the receiving FFL.

I just want a pro I can trust to avoid possible restless nights or unintentionally breaking some law somewhere.

There is nothing to be afraid of. The anti-gun people want you to be afraid though.

They want a copy of your ID so that they can properly log it in from you. There is no paperwork required. The letter is only needed to avoid sales tax, which may or may not apply to CO. You do have to say who the firearm is for since otherwise they won't know what to do with it.

It does not need to be in a locked container. I don't think I have ever received a firearm in a locked container. The box can not say that it is a firearm.

You should get the first three and last five of their FFL number so that you can confirm that they are really a FFL on the BATF ezcheck web page.

            Offtopic question..

Kemasa where's the PC for the bold part? I've seen it before too, but want to re-read the actual wording..

I've had, on more than one occasion, out of state FFLs ship me firearms in their factory box (with no wrapping) for Mossberg and Remington..

Now I don't think their boxes say "firearm" on them and didn't know if the PC said that specific word can't be used or if it shouldn't be obvious it's a firearm.

I would think a factory Mossberg/Remington box is almost 99% a firearm if you know what those companies do..
