    Indian Reservation residents

Please point me to a thread on the validity of Native American reservation/nation IDs and residency status of same. I am near a number of reservations and I am getting a lot of questions. Thanks

I believe they are non-resident aliens which means they will need a hunting license for 4473. They still need the CA DL/ID/Military ID for DROS. I'm guessing if they are not US citizens they will have an I94# or Alien# from the gubment, but I've never done one so can't be 100% sure.

I assume same residency documents for purchase type. E.g., utility bill, etc for handgun / DROS. Government doc for feds if address not current on identification, etc...

I think very few here have done them so your best bet might be to call ATF / DOJ for their respective forms.

Native Americans born in the US are citizens.

Well, then it makes it easy They are handled just like everyone else then. For some reason I thought a native american person I talked to said they were not unless the applied for citizenship if they were born on the reservation.

Hmmm.... I surrounded by Reservations and many of my customers are tribe members. I have never run across this issue before. They all have California ID.

Though infrequent, I have used the Tribal I.D. of various customers as an alternate form if Government Issued ID. To obtain Tribal Identification cards the tribe must be registered with the Dept. Of The Interior. Neither DOJ nor ATF have questioned it nor made an issue of it....

So, now it is ironic that the State whittles away at the right of its citizens to defend themselves from the possible oppression of their State.
