    Whole stack of questions ...

    1) Was the former owner a CA resident? Interstate transfer makes things complicated.

    2) By what means did the current possessor come into possession? Was the gun willed to him? Handed to him? Did he just take it out of the deceased's residence? Had it been loaned to him, and he had it when the deceased passed on?

    3) When did the current possessor get it?

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

Ya it was in state purchase so no interstate.

The previous owner that died his family member just gave it to the customer and it was I believe he Said purchased in 79 but not sure when the doj started making registration for firearms in ca but it was before then

Then the current possessor should grab the family member by the scruff of the neck and drag that person to an FFL to do a PPT.

                AB 809, passed 2011, effective 2014.

It has however, required papered thru-FFL transfers since 1991, for non-family.
